Investment
Fine portraiture is an investment in cherished memories, changing lives, new faces and personalities and family moments that can never again be recaptured. A considerable amount of time, effort and talent are required to produce high quality images of lasting value and meaning. Unlike snapshot studios, we produce only heirloom quality prints - those that will be passed down from generation to generation and retain their beauty, artistic value and significance. What's more, we spend a great deal of time with each client designing their portraits and products to ensure that they get exactly what they want. We never use canned poses or rush our clients through a session. Thus, the investment is understandably more than you would expect for a department store, mall or similar studio.
We do NOT have a minimum purchase requirement for our portrait prints and products. We believe enough in the value and quality of our portraits and products that it's simply not necessary. Our clients are free to purchase only the portraits and products they want. On average, our clients invest between $300 and $700 for traditional portraits. Some will invest less and others more. This is simply a guideline so our clients will know what to expect. We offer both Ala Carte pricing (individual prints) and Package pricing, although our clients will benefit substantially when purchasing one of our many packages.
Balsman Photography offers a variety of packages, including our exclusive "Watch Me Grow" package, designed to capture all the special moments of baby's first year. This wonderful package includes an entire year of sessions and your choice of a beautiful wall collage or a custom designed album to showcase images from each of baby's sessions.

Artist Fees
The Artist Fee, also known as a Session Fee, includes the use of our studio and lighting equipment, wardrobes, props and set designs. It also includes our photographer's time in capturing, editing, retouching, enhancing and producing the final images to present to our clients. In short, this fee covers all of the necessary elements for the creation of original images from which our clients select their portrait prints.
- Children's Portraits (Basic) - $125
Traditional portraits of kids at least 1 year old. This session includes a variety of poses both in studio and in our outdoor garden studio (weather permitting). Includes up to 4 subjects. Additional subjects (kids, pets, parents, etc.) may be added for $10 per subject. This session generally takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the child/children.
- Children's Fantasy Portraits - $150
These charming portraits feature our award-winning and innovative advanced set designs. Your child will have the unique opportunity to enter our elaborately created magical worlds and become a part of something truly remarkable. This session will include a variety of poses in one special set design. Includes up to 3 subjects. (Additional subjects are $10 each). This session generally takes 45 minutes to an hour, sometimes a little longer depending on the costume and wardrobe choices.
- Maternity (Basic) - $125
This session includes both the mom-to-be and dad-to-be in a touching and romantic setting. We recommend this session any time during the last trimester of pregnancy (although the 8th or 9th month usually works best). You are welcome to add big brothers and sisters. This session generally takes 45 minutes to an hour.
- Maternity (Progression) - $200
This special session option includes a basic Maternity session AND also includes sessions at 3 and 6 months. The first two sessions will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes each. This session includes a $50 package credit toward the purchase of an album or wall portrait package.
- Newborn/Baby Portraits - $125
Traditional newborn and baby portraits for children up to 1 year old. This session includes a variety of cute and cuddly poses in our studio. Our photographer will guide you in selecting poses to show off your newest family member. Includes up to 2 newborns and Mom and Dad. Additional subjects (kids, pets, parents, etc.) may be added for $10 per subject. This session generally takes 45 minutes to an hour.
- Senior Portraits - Starting at $99
These sessions vary by option. Each of our sessions will include a variety of poses and a FREE Family Portrait Session valid for one year. For more details on our Senior Portrait session options, please call our studio or visit our Seniors page.
- Family & Pet Portraits (In Our Studio) - $125
Choose from traditional or more artistic portraits of your family or pets. We provide a very casual and fun atmosphere, so anything is possible. This session includes a variety of poses both in studio and in our on-site outdoor garden studio (weather permitting). Includes up to 4 two-legged and 2 four-legged subjects. Additional subjects (pets, kids, grandparents, etc.) may be added for $10 per subject. This session generally takes an hour.
- Family/Children's Portraits (On Location) - $175
Choose a favorite park or other special location anywhere in Colorado (weather permitting). We bring the gear - you bring the smiles! We can help you to choose a location that fits your overall portrait needs. Travel fees will apply for locations further than 25 miles from our studio. Includes up to 6 subjects. Additional subjects (pets, kids, grandparents, etc.) may be added for $10 per subject. This session generally takes an hour for shooting time, plus set up and planning time.
- Glamour/Fashion Portraits - $200
This session includes the use of a professional makeup and hair artist (subject to availability). Choose from our wardrobe collections and/or your own clothing options. Includes 1 subject. Additional subjects may be added for $50 per subject. This session generally takes an hour to 2 hours, depending on the number of clothing and makeup/hair changes.
- Model Portfolios - $300
We customize your session to fit your specific needs. This session includes the use of a professional makeup and hair artist (subject to availability). Choose from our wardrobe collections and/or your own clothing options. Includes 1 subject and complimentary Zed/Comp card design. This session generally takes 2 to 3 hours, depending on the number of clothing and makeup/hair changes. We also share our detailed research and information on the modeling industry to help you better prepare for your new career.
